AI SEO Discord rules

The AI SEO Discord rules are seven lines that every member accepts on the join screen before they can post. Here is each rule as it’s posted in #rules, what it means in practice, and how the server enforces it.

Rule 1: one question per post

Rule 1 says questions go in the #ask-ai-seo forum, one question per post, with the whole question in the title.

A forum post keeps the question and its answers together in one thread, so the next person with the same problem finds it by searching the forum instead of scrolling a chat. The whole question goes in the title for the same reason: “AI Overviews help” tells nobody anything, while “Why does the AI Overview for ‘crm for roofers’ cite a 2023 listicle?” can be answered at a glance. There’s a guide to asking SEO questions in the forum with more examples.

Rule 2: show your work

Rule 2 says show your work: the query, the page and what you tried, because tests and data beat opinions.

AI answers change with the query, the location and the date, so the same question can have two right answers a week apart. A post with the exact query, the URL and the date you checked gives people something to test against instead of a guess. Screenshots help; crop out anything private first.

Rule 3: no self-promo, invites or pitches

Rule 3 bans self-promo, server invites, affiliate links and DM pitches, and allows a link only when it answers the question.

Without it, every question would collect “DM me” replies from people selling rankings. Posts like that come down, and AutoMod blocks invite links to other Discord servers and Telegram groups before they land. Linking your own test or write-up is fine when it’s the answer to what was asked.

Rule 4: nothing for sale

Rule 4 means nothing for sale: no selling links, reviews or accounts, in posts or in DMs.

Asking how link building works, or whether a paid link hurt a site, is fine. Offering links for sale isn’t. AutoMod watches for the usual phrases, like “backlinks for sale” and “dm for price”, and blocks the message before anyone sees it.

Rule 5: be respectful

Rule 5 asks members to be respectful: no harassment, spam or personal attacks.

Disagreeing with someone’s test is the point of the server; going after the person who ran it isn’t. AutoMod also filters the slurs and severe profanity that Discord flags by default.

Rule 6: never share passwords, logins or API keys

Rule 6 says never share passwords, logins or API keys, and mods will never DM you asking for them.

If someone claiming to be staff asks for access to your Search Console, your hosting or your Discord account, it’s a scam, so report the message. AutoMod stops members whose names pretend to be staff, such as “admin” or “discord support”, from posting, and blocks common scam links like fake Nitro gifts.

Rule 7: Discord’s Community Guidelines apply

Rule 7 puts every member under Discord’s Community Guidelines, the platform rules that apply in every server.

The six rules above sit on top of Discord’s guidelines, never in place of them.

How the AI SEO Discord enforces its rules

The AI SEO Discord enforces its rules with Discord’s own tools, set up so most problems never reach a channel.

  • Verified email and a five-minute wait. New accounts need a verified email address and have to be on Discord for five minutes before they can post.
  • AutoMod. Six filters: scam and invite links, link and service selling, mention spam, suspected spam, flagged words, and member names that pretend to be staff. Every block alerts the moderators.
  • Slowmode. One new forum post every five minutes per member and a few seconds between chat messages, so one account can’t flood a channel.
  • Media scanning. Discord scans images and files from every member for explicit content.

AutoMod matches whole words and phrases, so a question like “should I buy backlinks?” goes through. Selling them doesn’t.

Reporting a problem in the AI SEO Discord

Reporting a problem in the AI SEO Discord works the way it does anywhere on Discord: open the message’s menu and choose Report.

Moderators also see every AutoMod alert in a private channel. Never send anyone your password or a login code to “verify” something, even if they say they’re a moderator. That’s rule 6, and a real moderator won’t ask.

AI SEO Discord rules FAQ

These AI SEO Discord rules FAQ answers cover the two questions new members ask most about the rules.

Can I share my own article in the AI SEO Discord?

You can share your own article in the AI SEO Discord when it answers the question in the thread. Posting links to your articles with no question to answer counts as self-promo under rule 3.

Why did AutoMod block my message in the AI SEO Discord?

AutoMod blocked your message in the AI SEO Discord because it matched one of the server’s scam, invite, selling or spam filters, and Discord shows you a notice when that happens. If your message was a real question, rephrase it without the flagged phrase and post it again.
